The master bathroom project is so close to finished that we could finally hang the vintage style glass shelves I bought from Rejuvenation.com a few weeks ago.

Ooooh, pretty!

We ran out of caulk, so we have a little caulking left to do and some paint touch-ups, a towel hook or two to hang, and a curtain to hang. That’s it! We’re so close!

Already my mind is drifting to the other projects we need to finish. In light of the adoption thing and trying to get this place presentable pre-child, I decided yesterday we’re not going to demo the closets in the master bedroom after all. These closets were added on a couple decades ago and stick out in the room in an unpleasant fashion. My plan was to tear them out after we finish our new walk-in closet outside the master bathroom. The room would be restored to its original shape, and we could rearrange the furniture.

But we can’t paint the bedroom until the closet project is finished, and at the moment the room has three patches of blue test paint over the bed that have been there since not long after we moved in. Not cute. If we leave the closets in place, not only will we eventually have double the closet space (instead of keeping about the same amount), we will also have one less project hanging over our heads, AND can go ahead and paint the room. I made this pic a while back, indicating roughly the color I’m going for in there (except less pinky) … it’s basically a lighter shade of the bathroom color.

So I’ve just reconciled myself to the big ugly closet. It’s a relief. I’ll post separately soon requesting advice on how to pretty it up.

Rejuvenation is so awesome – I just visited Portland and got to see their retail store there – very nice – what you see in the catalogue and much more!
Good choice with the closet. You can always go back at a later, less busy time and change it then…

Oh my, I’m jealous. We have two bathrooms yet to do something with. Isn’t it a loooong process? I used your post as a guilt ploy, dragging my carpenter husband in here and saying, oohhhhh loooook, I wish we could do that. :) He wasn’t affected. In fact, he went on to play a game of solitaire and talk of all we’d do in the house when the kids are grown. Grrrrr.

    Your bathroom is lovely!

The bathroom looks gorgeous. I can’t believe it is the same place you showed us before pictures of all that time ago.

I think having extra closets is always a plus — even if they do stick out into the room. I like closets!

Great job. I’m jealous of the extra closet space.
Also the bathroom, too. If you do check out my website pass it on to anyone who would like a holiday gift of a House Portrait.
