I planned to write a post this morning titled “The Plumbers are Coming! The Plumbers are Coming!” But it took me so long to get my photos edited and uploaded that now the plumbers are here!

There goes my brilliant plan.

But of course I am thrilled with the plumbers’ presence, though we’ve already had numerous setbacks.

Yesterday Darwin tried to put the faucet on the sink and discovered that fitting round pipe thingies in square holes does not work. Also, the sink doesn’t have an overflow, while its new drain is designed for a sink that does.

Modifications are still in progress.

Then the plumbers didn’t get here until 10:15 a.m. I’m sure they’re busy men and have things to do and all that. But we wanted to get this done today, and that’s already been labeled impossible.

So. I’m struggling to stay upbeat. The plumbers are here! Something will work out with the sink, though for the life of me I don’t know what.

Meanwhile, I’m supposed to be at work but I’m terrified to leave my precious bathroom project in the hands of men. Yeah, that’s sexist but I don’t care. Darwin’s defeatist attitude about the sink problems made me nervous. For all I know, I could get home from work and find they’d scrapped all our plans because they didn’t feel like thinking outside the box.

So here I am, back in my sweats with my hair and makeup already done for work. I’m supposed to be deciding whether to stay here or go.

Instead I am typing away on my delightful new laptop and listening to the deep voices deciding my bathroom’s fate in the other room.

In other news, we finished the baseboards this weekend, and we found a 1920s/30s vanity.

The sink is definitely worth retrofitting, and I love the T&G walls & baseboards!

I have a question for you — is that a B&D cordless finish nailer? I can tell it’s B&D but wasn’t sure if it was a drill. If it’s a finish nailer, do you like it? Everyone keeps telling us that we’re not going to be happy unless we get a finish nailer that’s high end ($$$$) and that requires a compressor, but I keep looking at the B&D nailer and thinking that it will probably do just fine for what we need. Plus, despite issues with B&D quality, they do have a 2 year warranty and anything we’ve had problems with has crapped out before the warranty is up and we end up with a brand new one with a brand new start to the 2 year warranty, so that doesn’t seem like a half-bad deal to me.

Anyway, if you don’t mind letting me know if that’s what I think it is and what you think of it, I’d appreciate it! I gave you my email address, just take the NOSPAM out of it!

The baseboard did turn out very well, if I do say so myself. I did have moments of doubt, but after it was done, it looked great.

so close! I can’t believe next time I’m at your house the bathroom will be in full use. Where did you find the vanity?

Found it at River Oak(s?) Antiques in downtown T-town.
