It appears the problem was with each individual post having no .html extension. Okay, I may have fixed it for future posts, though I’ll have to fix the old ones individually … or else they’re impossible to fix.
Work, blog, work!

Man, it didn’t work.
I wonder if this is a FeedBurner issue. When your snippet shows up on HouseBlogs there are 4 links to your post. Three of them are FeedBurner links like this…
http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/1902Victorian/~3/85551208/lets-see-if-this-works
No .htm or .html extension. The last link is just to your diary main page.

With IE when it encounters a page with no extension it just treats it as a web page and opens it. With FireFox it assumes it is an Application/Octet stream, which is basically a binary file, that’s why it asks you if you want to save it to disk. Until you get this fix FireFox users can chose “Open With” instead of “Save to Disk”. When the “Open With” dialog box comes up just find FireFox under Program Files and it will open your blog entry web page in FireFox after it downloads it. It’s not that big of a deal until you get this fixed. The problem is, you need to do this every time.
Greg – The Petch House
Greg’s right. Firefox users can use the “open with”, but it is a bit irritating having to do that every time. Not that much of an issue for your regular readers, but I can imagine it might be a problem for casual surfers.
One thing I’ve noticed is that there’s no problem (initially) when I click through to your blog from the link on my site or Gary’s or etc. etc., but then if I try to view comments or a specific blog post the error message comes up. Clicking through from Houseblogs brings up that error message straight away however. I hope that helps somehow.
Add me to the group as one who is still having issues reading your posts. Firefox user here.
Appreciate you trying to fix it for us :)
Hey Kristin,
I think Greg’s got the issue nailed. I can view it in my “IE VIEW” Firefox extension, which makes Firefox render pages like IE will (I use the extension for testing websites I build, but it does come in handy in this case!)
I can view your blog’s front page, but when I try to click the comment link or permalink I have to “open with”. Though as both Chris and Greg said, we’ll all survive until you get it figured out ;)
Blogger is not adding a .html extension to my posts, where it was before. My main blog still has the .html, but if you click on any individual page in the recent past (since I switched to Beta), that post page doesn’t have an html extension. Argh.
Apparently I’m not the only one having this problem. A Blogger employee advised another person to fix his archive settings. He had tried it multiple times with no effect, but then when the Blogger person did it, it worked. So I fixed the setting (.html in the archive filename), but it hasn’t yet worked. So maybe if I try a few more times it will. *SIGH*
Just wanna state that this is very beneficial , Thanks for taking your time to write this.
