As promised, a photo of the master bathroom tub area (did you ever think you’d be excited about seeing someone else’s grungy bathtub?):

That little cabinet to the left will come out. The tub is just a tub – no shower. It will be replaced with a clawfoot tub.
Oh, and I must mention we’re going to that computerless hell known as “vay-cay-shun,” so I won’t be posting again until Tuesday or Wednesday. I know my adoring fans (aka myself) will miss my posts, but there’s nothing I can do about it. I really need a laptop. It sure would come in handy up in the mountains with the hill folk (aka my in-laws).

A few days without 1902 Victorian!?!? I know I’ll survive, but can it really be called “Living”?
Enjoy the Hill Folk.
Kristin,
So you’ll rip out the tub and will need to patch the wall around it for the clawfoot? I think that the easiest thing to do is buy a few white tiles and see if they match okay. Whites can be much harder than you think to match, and the color acuity of the human eye is really, really good. But, it will be pretty obvious if they match or not. Worst case scenario, you can rip out a section of the tile on the wall around the tub (say maybe 1/2 between the window and the floor and try some of the ideas that have been proposed with a border for the transition.
:)

Greg cracks me up!
Have fun with the inlaws! My visit with mine is this weekend, but they have internet out in the wilds of Western Massachusetts. We’ll miss you!
