True to my word, my picture-happy blogging days are back. I feel like myself again!
Last night, the hex tiles from American Universal arrived. Though we won’t be tiling for another couple of weeks (D wants to wait till his tiling buddy is available, but I think we could do it ourselves), I insisted on opening up the two boxes of tiles. I had to check and make sure the order was correct, right? Right?
Once the boxes were open, I couldn’t just let the tiles sit there, looking all shiny and appealing. So I extracted a sheet of black and one of white to give myself (and you guys watching at home) a sneak preview of what the countertops will look like.
Voila!
Of course, we don’t plan to lay a sheet of black next to a sheet of white. We’ll intersperse black tiles in the white and do a black border. I’m undecided on how random I want the black tiles to be. I could do one in the center of each “flower” of white tiles, or I could do them more randomly. Darwin votes for random because the centers would be more black than we’d initially planned.
What do you think, bloggy buddies?

Hmmm, I think I’d like a flower of white tiles, but I am pretty anal and like order, so that might be the anal side talking. I guess I would lay them out and practice.
Oh my gosh, is this picture with the nikon? The jars are so shiny and full of detail.

Hurray for you, halloweenlover! I hope you can get one. :) I love mine so far and spent a million hours last night struggling with my spyware-clogged computer, trying to play around with the photos from my new camera. Yes, this pic is with the D70. I took it at night in our dimly-lit kitchen.
I vote for a pattern, but you could do every other ‘flower’ or something to get less black in there.
Whatever you do, I’m sure it’ll look great. Love your cabinets.
I vote for random. I think that is much more interesting/stimulating visually – and more modern.
Which I guess is the issue: how retro or courant are you going in the kitchen?
My gut says random, but I know I would make it an organized random so I didn’t end up with one section I couldn’t stand. I guess that means it would be a pattern, but you would have to look to identify the pattern- if that’s possible. If not, I vote for the flower pattern with the black for the center.
I’m pretty anal so I’d probably end up doing a pattern, though I like the random look also. Your kitchen is going to be stunning when you are done, no matter what you choice you make.
