Shopgirl

Yesterday I went to Hobby Lobby for some fabric, but they're having a good sale this week, so I had to pick up some other things, too. Like some new throw pillows (50 percent off) in the green and gold Sherwin Williams says coordinates with our red walls. We needed something to dress up our dullsville sofa.

I may drag Darwin back with me today or tomorrow (before the sale ends) because we kinda need another floor lamp for the living room (also 50 percent off) and because I found a cabinet for our DVDs. Having a tower o' DVDs against the wall really interrupts the feeling of the room. This cabinet has glass in the door, so you can still see the DVDs, but they're not so in your face. It's exactly the right height and width (we need something tall and narrow), and it's about the right shade of stain to coordinate, though it's all straight lines, while everything else in the room is curved. We'll see.

Why don't you staple some of the coordinating colored fabric on the back of the glass door of the DVD cabinet so that you can't see the DVDs and to make it match the room better? I did this once and got a lot of compliments on it.

Kristin,
I don't know if you sew...but did you check out the home decor fabric on sale at Hobby Lobby also? It almost made me wanna whip up some curtains :)

Gary, yes I could spend hours there! It is a dangerous store. :)

Amanda, I love the idea of the fabric behind the glass. That is pure genious ... and if the home decor fabric is on sale (thanks, Jenne - I didn't notice that!), then I could get some this week. Woo-hoo!

I do sew a bit, Jenne, though I'm not in need of curtains at the moment. I've always said I would make throw pillows, but when they're half price it would cost just about as much to make them myself. So I'll save my time for other stuff! :)

Kristin,
I think that it only took about a yard of fabric, so it shouldn't be too expensive. If Hobby Lobby doesn't have the home decor fabric on sale, try Joann's or Hancock (don't know what you have in your area). They usually have a good selection of the 54" widths, and Joann's has a lot of coupons in the paper (at least up here). Good luck- if you do the project pls. be sure to post a pic. of the finished results.

Oooh, those are good colors. I am intrigued about the green and gold coordinating colors. I didn't know that! We painted our dining room a cranberry color from California paints, one of their historic colors and I love it. I have been thinking about making placemats and maybe I'll try something with green and gold! And I love the fabric behind the glass suggestion. Good call!

I am SOOOOOO jealous! As much as I love Milwaukee there is something to be said for the "chain capital of the world", DALLAS. We have no Hobby Lobby here and I am really missing it!
